Two great authors Tim Harford and Steven Johnson wrote two books about the same subject. One is an economist the other studies innovation. The two subjects are highly interconnected. “How we got to now”  talks about 6 simple things that changed the modern world. They were all invented by simple people that we have never heard before. Find out how water chlorination gave birth to skating and other fun facts. If you are lazy to read it, you can watch the documentary by PBS  “Fifty Things that Made the Modern Economy”  is in the same spirit. It just arrived, so I haven’t read it yet. The cool thing about busy people like all of us is that the book is split into 50 small chapters that you can read independently.
